Our steel fabrication company has specialized in structural steel fabrication, Division 5 Structural & Misc., along with various structural steel installations for over 30 years. Providing services for various types of businesses, ranging from small to large scale projects, we pride ourselves on the strong, long-term relationships we continue to build daily due to our safety assurance, quality of work, timely execution and exceptional customer service.

**This position is open to WFH. Candidates local to the greater Orlando area will have preference**

Must be proficient with Tekla Powerfab (Fab suite)

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare estimates on new projects and estimate prices for any change orders on existing contracts in a timely manner
  • Read and interpret job bid instructions, construction documents, blueprints and detailed specifications for preparation of estimates
  • Prepare take off of steel materials, estimate all necessary shop labor and field erection, estimate materials, buyout items and equipment cost etc. to prepare a thorough bid estimate
  • Call / Email Suppliers etc. for pricing and time frame on products that need to be incorporated into bid estimate
  • Type up all estimates on computer, enter takeoffs, drawing numbers etc. into computer program
  • Communicate with Contractors, Arch., Engineers and Detailers via phone and email
  • Print or download construction documents if needed
  • Interact with other office personnel in a nice friendly manner

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient in interpreting /reading Architectural and Structural Drawings, Specifications, Sketches and Construction Documents, ASTM standards for Div 5
  • Experienced in estimating field erection, knowledge of steel construction process
  • Detailed oriented and very organized, maintain neat and clean work area
  • Uses good time management skills to complete project task to meet established bid dates
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work load
  • Proper phone skills, ability to communicate with Contractors, Detailers, Arch. and Engineers a must
  • Must be proficient on computer ( all estimates, takeoffs etc. done via computer) Microsoft, Outlook, Excel, Steel Estimating Software
  • Must have at least 5 years experience with estimating structural and misc. steel, handrails and stairs. Structural background a plusDuties:

- Prepare accurate and timely estimates for construction projects- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes- Utilize construction management software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to create detailed cost estimates- Analyze project costs and develop strategies to control expenses- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing for materials and services- Provide support to project management teams during the construction phase by monitoring costs and assisting with cost control efforts
Requirements:
- Proven experience in construction estimating or related field
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes
- Proficiency in using construction management software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
